Work Conditioning and Occupational Functional Rehabilitation
Following a Worker Physical Assessment, a Work Conditioning and Occupational Functional Rehabilitation program may be developed and implemented.
These programs are tailored to the worker and their specific requirements as assessed in the Worker Physical Assessment. The program may include working with a Physiotherapist, Kinesiologist or Exercise Therapist in a gym setting, swimming pool, or in a simulated workplace setting.
The program includes physical conditioning, focused strengthening, safe lifting and carrying techniques, and preventative stretching. Emphasis is put on functional activities relevant to the worker's occupation.
On completion of the program a Discharge Summary Report will include a review of the worker's current status and recommendations for suitability for return to work. Following the completion of the program a Return to Work Plan Assessment is usual.
This program is most effective if a Physical Demands Analysis has been completed for the job or jobs being considered for the worker.
